Our new Dolos takedown system protective safety cap helps protect your investment by keeping your gas tube and barrel extension covered and locked in place while stowed away and disassembled. Your gas tube is completely covered to prevent bending which may render your weapon inoperable. The cap is precision machined from tough and lightweight black Delrin plastic and has lugs to twist and lock into your collar and prevent barrel wobble until you are ready to deploy your weapon.

When I first installed the Dolos system on one of my AR's, I immediately noticed that there was something lacking.
When broken down, the barrel and gas tube just kind of flopped around inside the hand-guard. I felt that, that just wouldn't do.
So I did an internet search and found nothing (can't remember the search terms I used at that time.) I then asked my son who is mastered in the art of 3-D printing if he could make a securing-protective cover for the barrel and gas tube assembly. He said "no problem"! I even suggested that once he had the program tweeked in he could make gobs of them for fun and profit.
But, before he fired up his Auto-Cad program, I decided to make another search with the term "Dolos protective cover" and it took me to Archon mfg. And there before my weeping eyes with tears of joy streaming down my blubbering cheeks, was a photo of the device he and I had in mind. I asked him if he could print them less costly than the one shown in the photo and he said there was no way to print them cheaper unless he sent the Auto-Cad file to a Chinese manufacturer. Soooo.... I ordered one from MDX Arms and couldn't be happier with the product I received. The fit and finish are nice and clean with no sharp edges and it locks in the barrel and protects the gas tube. Exactly what the Doctor ordered! Made in 'merica too. (I think) I'd recommend this item to anyone who has a Dolos system. In fact I think it should be included in the kit with the system so one could be good to go right off the bat. But, that's just me...
The only modification I made was to make some alignment marks with a red paint pen to aid in aligning the protective cap and the hand-guard.
Just one question though (I think I know.) What's the purpose of the small, angled hole drilled into the face of the unit?
